Word Of The Day: Light

Few things offend like a light getting turned on to wake you up. It doesn't matter how necessary or even helpful it is; the searing bright of the light is painful, annoying and overall unwelcome. That is why this analogy made by Jesus makes so much sense. Before He makes Himself known to us, we live our lives in the dark. We love the dark. We embrace it. We sink ourselves deep into it and we become a product, a child of the darkness we hold so dear. When Jesus enters our lives, He is shining a light into…

Word Of The Day: Forgiveness

Forgiveness. The bible talks forgiveness a number of times. This is something I admittedly struggle with. It's also why I feel the need to dig into the Word on a daily basis. It's so incredibly easy to just write someone off. It's way easier to just ignore them and forget about them. Move on. But if we are to truly call ourselves Christ followers, can we really do that? Ephesians 4:32 says "Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you". I have received…

Word Of The Day: Shepherd

This is probably one of the most famous passages of scripture in the entire Bible. Many of us who grew up in the church memorized it as children. It's one in which our familiarity may numb us to the deep peace that it's words can provide. There is level of trust and security a sheep finds in there shepherd. You may have heard before about how dumb sheep can be, but can you imagine the peace of mind one would have in not needing to know anything except the shepherd? I Am The type who over analyzes…

Word Of The Day: Temptation

Temptation. It's crazy what temptation can make us do. It calls our name, singing to us like a siren. Whenever I'm feeling attacked, I turn to one of my favorite scriptures. 1 Corinthians 10:13. This verse gives me hope in a hopeless situation. "No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it." When we are tempted...if we are not…

Word Of The Day: Grace & Mercy

I fail. Often. As a husband, I fail. As a father, I fail. As a decent human being, I epically fail! I try to do what is right, but not all of the time. There are many, MANY times when I knowingly, willingly do what I know to be wrong. I won't try to let myself off the hook by saying, "Well, I'm only human" because that would be disingenuous I fail so often because I want to. I have a problem with sin and my problem is that I don't hate it nearly as much as I should. Thankfully, I am a recipient of God's…

Word Of The Day: Rest

I. Am. Tired. I woke up today and those were the first thoughts that came to mind. In fact, it's been like that a good majority of the day. Then the word WEARY popped into my head. That's pretty spot on. Have you guys ever had that season in your life where you just felt wiped out? Yeah, me too. The good news is that Jesus Himself said "Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." When we find our cup running dry, we can go to Jesus and He will fill it. When we find ourselves…

Word Of The Day: Peace

A lot of things are pretty messed up right now. Understatement of the year, I know. The sad truth is that things have been pretty messed up for a very long time. For about as long as there have people on the earth there have been people messing stuff up. If you take a moment to just think about all the craziness going on in the world, it doesn't take too long before you start to see how truly bad things are. Right? Well, that depends on what you were thinking about. This verse in Philippians 4 is presented…

Word Of The Day: Trials

Hey all! Dave the drummer for IATP here. As Jerrod mentioned, we wanted to start a daily post where we were sharing with you what God has placed on our hearts. We will be posting on here, instagram and word of the day, and some other places. I've been digging into the book of Job and am still amazed at how one dude who went through so much was still able to praise God and stay so faithful. Here's a guy who had everything. Before he knew it, he was down to nothing. God allowed Satan to take everything away…

Word Of The Day: Purity

Today, we will be starting a new daily post on FB and Instagram as well as compiling these posts on the blog on our website called #WordOfTheDay. It will be a way to regularly share what God is speaking to us in his Word with you! We'll be switching off days, so you'll get to hear from both myself (Jerrod) and Dave. For the first Word of the day, I thought it would be fitting to talk about why God's word is so important. The psalmist starts by asking the question, "How can a young person stay pure?" That…

Things are beginning to roll...

It has now been a month since I stepped away from my former job to focus more on building this music project and things are actually starting to move along. Just as a snapshot of what has happened:

The IATP social pages have begun to come to life. The Twitter profile alone has jumped up from 35 followers to now 309! That is some pretty serious growth. The Instagram account didn't even exist until August, but that is coming along nicely as well!

I have also booked the very first official IATP acoustic…Read more
